The heir of Abraham represents the heir of God
This time, let us study about “The History of Abraham’s Family.” Through this, we can understand who will enter the kingdom of heaven. First, let us study the parable of the rich man and Lazarus which Jesus allowed us to know.
Lk 16:19-24 “There was a rich man who was dressed in purple and fine linen and lived in luxury every day. At his gate was laid a beggar named Lazarus, covered with sores and longing to eat what fell from the rich man’s table. Even the dogs came and licked his sores. The time came when the beggar died and the angels carried him to Abraham’s side. The rich man also died and was buried. In hell, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side. So he called to him, ‘Father Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire.’ ”
When Lazarus died, the angels carried him to Abraham’s side. If we are saved and enter the kingdom of heaven, whose side will we be carried to? It will be God’s side. And who can only be called “Father” in heaven? It is God. In this parable, however, who was called “Father”? Abraham was called Father.
We can understand that Abraham represents God in the Bible. So, Abraham’s heir who inherited Abraham’s estate represents God’s heir who will inherit the kingdom of heaven (Gal 3:29).
Three candidates who could inherit Abraham’s estate
In Abraham’s family, there were three candidates who could inherit Abraham’s estate. The first was Eliezer the servant, the second was Ishmael, and the third was Isaac.
At first, Abraham thought that Eliezer would be his heir.
Ge 15:2-4 But Abram said, “O Sovereign LORD, what can you give me since I remain childless and the one who will inherit my estate is Eliezer of Damascus?” And Abram said, “You have given me no children; so a servant in my household will be my heir.” Then the word of the LORD came to him: “This man will not be your heir, but a son coming from your own body will be your heir.”
God said that Eliezer was not Abraham’s heir but a son coming from his own body would be his heir.
Ge 16:15-16 So Hagar bore Abram a son, and Abram gave the name Ishmael to the son she had borne. Abram was eighty-six years old when Hagar bore him Ishmael.
Hagar was a maidservant of Sarah, the wife of Abraham (Ge 16:1). Ishmael was born of Abraham, but his mother was a slave woman. God said Ishmael could not become Abraham’s heir.
Ge 17:18-19 And Abraham said to God, “If only Ishmael might live under your blessing!” Then God said, “Yes, but your wife Sarah will bear you a son, and you will call him Isaac. I will establish my covenant with him as an everlasting covenant for his descendants after him.”
God said that the one who would be the heir had to be born of Sarah. And He made the son who was born of Sarah as the heir of Abraham.
What is the reason Isaac became Abraham’s heir?
Among three candidates, Isaac finally became Abraham’s heir. What was the reason? Let us find out through the table.
Let us first think about Eliezer. His father was not the free man Abraham, and his mother was not the free woman Sarah. So he could not become the heir. Second, Ishmael was born of the free man Abraham, but as his mother was a slave woman, he could not become the heir, either. Isaac was born of the free man Abraham and of the free woman Sarah, so he could inherit Abraham’s estate.
In Israel, the firstborn son was given the birthright. But it was Isaac who was chosen as the heir. This shows that the maternal line is the decisive factor in choosing the heir.
The decisive factor to make us heirs of God is Heavenly Mother
The history of Abraham’s family is a prophecy showing us how to go to the kingdom of heaven. It is because Abraham represents Heavenly Father, and Abraham’s heir God’s heir. In order to inherit the kingdom of heaven, we must be the children of Mother who is free. In other words, only those who believe in Heavenly Mother and are born again as the children of the new covenant can go to the kingdom of heaven.
The Bible clearly testifies that we have our Heavenly Mother who is free.
Gal 4:26 But the Jerusalem that is above is free, and she is our mother.
Here, “our” refers to God’s children who will be saved. If we are not the children of Heavenly Mother, we can never be the heirs of God. This is why the Bible testifies that we are children of promise like Isaac.
Gal 4:28 Now you, brothers, like Isaac, are children of promise.
As Isaac inherited Abraham’s estate through his mother, so also we will inherit the kingdom of heaven through our Heavenly Mother. If we are not the children of Heavenly Mother, we can never inherit the kingdom of heaven.
Gal 4:30-31 But what does the Scripture say? “Get rid of the slave woman and her son, for the slave woman’s son will never share in the inheritance with the free woman’s son.” Therefore, brothers, we are not children of the slave woman, but of the free woman.
Therefore, we must become the children of Heavenly Mother who is the free woman so that we can inherit the kingdom of heaven as the children of promise like Isaac.
This is why Heavenly Mother has come to this earth. Let us believe in Mother, so that we can become the children of Mother and inherit the kingdom of heaven.
